ON A COLD AND FOGGY DAY
To the best of my knowledge this well known and popular take-away Chinese restaurant is known as the New Empire (rather than the Empire). It features some excellent street art which changes on a regular basis.

SNAX IN THE CITY THE JUNCTION OF FRANKLIN STREET AND LINENHALL STREET
As I know nothing about the business based in Belfast I have decided to use their own description:
“Our awarding winning Gourmet Sandwich Bar began in the heart of Belfast in 2003 and has been serving great tasting, freshly made and locally sourced food ever since; we offer you healthy and oh so tasty range of food that is hand-crafted in-house and ready to eat, take away or even have delivered to your desk.”
I do not know know what ” awarding winning” means so I assume that it is a typo

THE NEW EMPIRE IN RATHMINES – CHINESE RESTAURANT
They really do use their imagination when decorating the exterior of this restaurant. Every time I pass by it is different.
Rathmines is an inner suburb on the southside of Dublin, about 3 kilometres south of the city centre. It effectively begins at the south side of the Grand Canal and stretches along the Rathmines Road as far as Rathgar to the south, Ranelagh to the east and Harold’s Cross to the west. It is situated in the city’s Dublin 6 postal district.
Rathmines has thriving commercial and civil activity and is well known across Ireland as part of a traditional “flatland” – providing rented accommodation to newly arrived junior civil servants and third level students coming from outside the city since the 1930s. In more recent times, Rathmines has diversified its housing stock and many houses have been gentrified by the wealthier beneficiaries of Ireland’s economic boom of the 1990s. Rathmines, nonetheless, is often said to have a cosmopolitan air, and has a diverse international population and has always been home to groups of new immigrant communities and indigenous ethnic minorities.

BOCO PIZZA RESTAURANT [WILL BE OPERATING A TAKE-A-WAY OR HOME DELIVERY SERVICE]
I had a chat with Colm Bodkin the owner of BoCo on Bolton Street and he told me that the restaurant was closed but that he was establishing a take-away service and that he was hoping to deliver especially to older people but he was not yet in a position to make a final announcement. Visit https://boco.ie for details.
Despite all the stories about Temple Bar on Saturday [14 March 2020] there was a very abrupt change. I was having a meal at at Mieko King 101 Capel Street and the manager told me that they closing until further notice. When I left the restaurant and noticed that many other pubs and restaurants were closed.
Today I had a walk around the city centre and on the North Side of the city almost every pub and restaurant was closed. On the South Side a number of pubs and restaurants were still operational.
Today in Ireland there were 40 new cased bringing the total to 169. There were 11 new cases in Northern Ireland
[UPDATE] The Irish government has called on pubs and bars to close from Sunday to help tackle coronavirus. The request to close pubs until 29 March followed discussions with industry representatives who outlined the difficulty of implementing social distancing while pubs remain open. The government also asked people not to hold house parties, as doing so “would put other peoples’ health at risk”.
