SPRUCE BY ADAM MAY – SCULPTURE IN CONTEXT 2014
[UPDATE 15 MARCH 2021]
I am currently working my way through my back catalogue of photographs as my street photography activities have been constrained for twelve months.
This time last year, just before St. Patrick’s Day, I was having a meal at the Mieko King restaurant when suddenly the manager informed me that they were planning to shut the restaurant until further notice because of instructions from the Government. Of course my booking for St. Patrick’s day had to be cancelled. Then the St. Patrick’s Day parade and later in the year the Sculpture In Context exhibition was cancelled.
A series of lockdowns effectively shut down all my photographic projects for 2020 which was a bit annoying as I had just purchased a Sony A7RIV camera and a number of lenses.
I am really disappointed that the 2021 Patrick’s Day parade has been cancelled and much to my surprise the Sculpture In Context exhibition has also been cancelled.
Adam May harnesses wood, metals and polyamides, creating dissonances between worked natural substances and the abstract perfection of contemporary materials and processes.
Sculpture in Context has established itself as the largest outdoor sculpture exhibition in Ireland. This independent, artist led exhibition provides a unique and challenging platform for artists, and asks them to respond creatively to a specific location.
