BLESSINGTON BASIN PUBLIC PARK – SOCIAL DISTANCING MAY NOT HAVE BEEN AS GOOD AS IT NEEDS TO BE
Note: I used a 70-200mm lens so people may appear closer to me and to each other than actually were but eventually I discovered that it was becoming impossible to maintain the required distance so returned home.
“Social distancing or physical distancing is a set of non-pharmaceutical infection control actions intended to stop or slow down the spread of a contagious disease.”
There have been many complaints that is some parts of the country there are examples of large groups of people [all ages] ignoring requests to observe social distancing rules and when I went for a walk today I noticed that the rules were in general being observed but I was not so convinced when I visited Blessington Basin Public Park. Towards one end of the park there were large groups of people and a large number involved in a soccer game so I removed myself as quickly as possible.
I have canceled all planned travel and avoid all public transport. According to my GP it is OK to walk around the city for exercise but I suspect that this advice will change in the near future and I am not looking forward to being confined to my apartment. I have included a link to official advice that applies to Ireland.
