THIS IS KNOWN AS THE HOLLOW [PHOENIX PARK DUBLIN]
My exposure settings were changed by accident and my photographs were very much over exposed but I did not realise that there was a problem until I returned home.
An elegant open bandstand manufactured by Musgrave & Co. of Belfast, as marked with an ornamental escutcheon on one of the pillars flanking the steps. Forming the centrepiece of the Hollow area within Phoenix Park, surrounded by grass banks and mature trees, it appears to be sitting within a natural amphitheatre. It is of characteristic Victorian appearance and forms an important element of the history of recreational use within the public park. The bandstand contributes to the rich and varied architectural heritage of Phoenix Park, one of Europe’s largest urban parks.
Phoenix Park is the largest (1752 acres) enclosed park in Europe. In fact, it is bigger than all the parks in London put together and twice the size of Central Park in New York.
