COLOURFUL STREET ART – GRAND CANAL QUAY
Friday 10th May 2019: Over 30 volunteers from Grand Canal Quay – residents, employees, school students, volunteers from the Docklands Business Forum and Trinity College Dublin students and personnel transformed a disused wall along the quay into a piece of art. The artwork is partly designed to point to what is to come for the area – the Grand Canal Innovation District.
Trinity, in partnership with Docklands Business Forum and with the support of Dublin City Council have taken on the task of re-painting one of the external walls of the Trinity Technology and Enterprise Centre on Grand Canal Quay as part of the annual Docklands Volunteer Day. The artwork alludes to an “Innovation District” which refers to Trinity’s proposed plan to develop a new campus at the site which will act as a catalyst to develop a globally competitive innovation district for Dublin in the heart of the Docklands. Such a district has the potential to increase our international competitiveness, drive further investment to the city and regions, provide support for local entrepreneurs, connections between researchers and businesses and critically provide an asset for local residents.
