IRISH MAURITIAN COMMUNITY CELEBRATING GANESHA CHATURTHI – OLD VERSION
I had the good fortune to be invited.
Mauritians in Ireland and friends met in the Teachers Club on the first Monday in September [2-9-2019] in Dublin to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi (Vināyaka Chaturthī) or Vinayaka Chavithi (Vināyaka Chavithī), which is the Hindu festival that reveres god Ganesha. It is a ten-day festival, which starts on the fourth day of Hindu luni-solar calendar month Bhadrapada, which typically falls in the months of August or September of the Gregorian calendar. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha clay idols privately in homes, or publicly on elaborate pandals.
