SCULPTURE BY LUCY GLENDINNING AT SAINT ANNES SQUARE BELFAST
My attention has been drawn to the fact that it is Saint Annes Square rather than Saint Anne’s Square.
Sculpture in Saint Anne’s Square, Belfast, by the artist. Described by the artist, Lucy Glendinning, as “a 7m high mirror polished stainless steel with internal lighting a laser cut pattern with coloured perspex insets and a life size figure cast in slate resin.”
When I visit Belfast I usually stay at the Ramada by Wyndham hotel and there is an exit from the hotel that leads to Saint Anne’s Square and usually I visit the Zen restaurant which is located behind this sculpture. When I first saw the sculpture it reminded me of Titanica the sculpture by Rowan Gillespie.
Lucy Glendinning born 1964 lives and works in Somerset. She studied fine art sculpture at University of the West of England Bristol, after leaving college Lucy worked for Elizabeth Frink in a bronze foundry, Learning how to make moulds and castings with wax which influenced her work to this day.
