The photographer is an armed version of the solitary walker reconnoitering, stalking, cruising the urban inferno, the voyeuristic stroller who discovers the city as a landscape of voluptuous extremes. Adept of the joys of watching, connoisseur of empathy, the flâneur finds the world "picturesque".
Susan Sontag, 1977

My mother, who was 99 years old last month, advised that as you get older falling is not the real problem as getting up after the fall is when life becomes difficult. I mention this because during my visit to Belfast last March I had a very bad fall and I had difficulty getting up for about five minutes. As a result of the fall and for other reasons related to my street photography activities I decided to invest in an Apple XR and an Apple Watch. I should mention that the watch does detect a fall.

Now that I have the phone I have the opportunity to use is as a camera.
