MOUNT JEROME CEMETERY – A SELECTION OF OBELISKS
An obelisk is a tall, four-sided, narrow tapering monument which ends in a pyramid-like shape or pyramidion at the top. Different ancient cultures built them to symbolise a god, an important astronomical event, or to commemorate the achievements of an important person.
The point on an obelisk is there to break up any storm clouds which pass overhead allowing the sun to continually shine.
